No Bullying Dot Com

48 comments:

  1. That is a good article and well worth sharing. The problems on GR at some point were induced by GR's failing insight to understand the devastating impact of bullies. People with clinically defined personality disorders combined with people who genuinely are evil, seek chaos in the destruction of others. You gave always been a warrior in this fight.

    1. My favorite book of all time is probably "Gone With The Wind". But lately, the past year and a half, I haven't read a book. Been too busy. I'm actually planning to raid my mothers book shelf shortly. She has some books collecting dust.

And since my heart attack, I've been reading a lot of insurance papers and booklets. lol This Obamacare crap is freaking killing me. Haha

  3. Since bullies 'payoff' Goodreads in writing reviews, and reviews fuel Goodreads, they have no incentive to change.

    1. I have no idea what you're talking about. I don't hang out online anymore. At least, not around the bully circles. I stay away from the bullies on GR under my "other" author profile. Who is Kathleen Hale, and what is the stuff? If you're gonna come on here as an anon and spew the news, at least leave a link.

Nobody I know has ever called a reviewer a troll. I know I never have. I have called bullies, who pose as reviewers, trolls. You must be one of the bullies posing as a reviewer. You troll. lol

    2. you can't please a bully. First they bitch at you to get a life and when you do, they bitch at you for not covering a story they think you should be covering? How can you be abnormally quiet about Kathleen Hale when basically, you've been quiet about everything for the past several months? that anon isn't too bright is they?

    3. I'm not going to get all bent over some bully who got liquored up and came to my blog to cry their lonely tears over their stupid butt hurt. lol

But no, you can't please a bully. You're damned if you do and double damned if you don't. It's hard for them to accept the fact that nobody cares anymore. It's too late for their friends over at Salon to help them. The bullies are dinosaurs. They still think it's reviewers versus authors. It never was that at all. It's good people versus bullies. Nothing more and nothing less. But they just don't get it and they never will. Neither will Salon writer, Laura Miller.

  7. So I did a quick Google search for Kathleen Hale. Miss Hale is an author who tracked down a reviewer who left her a one star rating / review.

I suppose, what the anon bully above is trying to say is, just because one author goes nuts and literally hunts down a reviewer, it must mean that ALL authors do this.

There are trolls on both sides of the fence. I never said that no author crosses a line where reviews are concerned. I know there are plenty of "bad" authors just as there are plenty of "bully reviewers". My argument has always been that it is not a reviewer's job to call out bad authors in a gang-style format. Any difference a reviewer has with an author should remain between those two people only, and under no circumstance should either side gather up their friends and go attacking each other online. Nor should anyone who has nothing to do with the squabble get involved. People need to mind their own damn business. If you bullies practiced this then you wouldn't be bullies anymore. You would be normal people who don't stick your noses into affairs that don't concern you.

Oh, and you shouldn't ever rate and review books you never read or personally attack authors in book reviews. Your opinion of an author is irrelevant to the book. There are proper places to vent your opinion about authors, but a book review is not one of those places. The sooner you bullies learn this, and practice it, the sooner you stop being bullies.

And I'm already at the conclusion that anon 10:45 is a bully.

    1. The anon option was put back in place because people were commenting to posts through email. Not having the anon option available for readers made me feel like the bullies had won. I don't mind opposite views if a point is being made but the bullies abuse the anon option by never making a point when they comment. They only accuse, demand and insult.

I actually thought the Kathleen story was interesting, but it was already covered pretty well and I didn't learn of it until the bully came on here and spewed the news. I usually rely on others to send me links to interesting things and nobody sent me a link to the Kathleen Hale story. Had someone done so, I probably would have just linked to one of the already posted articles.

I do find it interesting that the bullies are coming back around again. The next anon comment might have a reason for that.

Maybe that's why they are coming back around, to try and drive me to another one that will kill me?

  12. Please take this blog down Carroll. Please? I'm begging you. I've had 3 job prospects turn me down after a web search. I think they are stumbling onto your posts about me. You made your point now its time to close the blog. I took my stuff about you down. I'm sorry I did it okay? I was younger and didn't know better. I made a mistake. Are you going to punish me for the rest of my life? Think about it okay?

    1. I can't comply with that request. I don't know who you are so how do I know you took stuff about me down? While there is still a lot of lying garbage posted about me by you and your bully friends, so shall this truth blog remain.

As for your employment situation, not my problem. Karma is a bitch. Or in this case, karma is a Bryant. A Carroll Bryant.

And did my eyes read correctly? You bullying me was a "mistake"? Really? Seriously? ..... 1+1= 3 is a mistake. Bullying people is more about character.

Already thought about it ..... and no. The answer is no. I wish I was one of those people who can forgive easily, but I'm not. It's one of my flaws that I am trying to work on and failing miserably at. Not to mention, I don't think you're really sorry. Whom ever you are, I think you're just sorry you did what you did under your real name where your actions can come back to haunt you. That's the only thing I think you're sorry about.

  13. One by one the bullies are tearing down people who opposed them the loudest, the strongest. Many believe the bullies are behind STGRB's removal, and now suddenly anon 11:52 wants you to remove your blog? When bloggers speak about bullies they become the witnesses the internet needs. Never think what you have accomplished is not valuable, it is. STGRB is gone but who knows, they may return. In the meantime everything they published, by countless many, have been saved. Unlike Rick who is celebrating STGRB, it is hoped you have more class and character.

    1. I do not know what has happened to STGRB. I have my theories. But do any of those theories include giving credit to the bullies? Absolutely not. I don't think the bullies did anything to STGRB. My theories revolve around the notion that whatever happened to STGRB - for good or for worse - was of their own doing.

But one cannot deny that STGRB changed. They became what they most despised. They proclaimed victory when there was no victory to proclaim.

    1. I don't know, I have a friend who is a manager and he does all the hiring and firing. He mentioned one time that he checks all future and current employees at least once a year to see if anyone is acting a fool. He feels very strongly that employee reputations and images reflect his business. The only exception is gamers. He thinks they're all nuts.

But you do have a point. I doubt one or more posts made by me could keep someone from actually getting hired for a job. On the other hand - if I'm not the only one doing the posting ....... you are absolutely right. It's the history of the behavior.

But there might be something more to that comment than meets the eye as another person weighs in.

  15. Regarding the article The Truth About Bullying At School I would also like to add if the bullying does stop after reporting it to the school, don't hesitate to take legal actions and notify the police. Make it public information. Bullies depend on the silence of their victims.

  16. I see stgrb is siding with Kathleen Hale. Don't they realize that she is the psycho stalker? I think you and Rick are right Carroll, they are on the wrong side these days.

    1. They are? Really? Wow!

Yes, they are inconsistent anymore with where they stand on bullying. They are defending Kathleen after what she did and yet they bully Rick and distance themselves from him just for threatening to hire hackers to find out who the bullies are? I would think getting into your car and physically tracking down a reviewer would be a lot worse. But that's just me. Unless they (STRGB) are going to try and claim that the reviewer Kathleen tracked down was really a bully just because of the one star rating and review?

      That would be a stretch.

      Delete
    2. Most can see why STRGB and others would distance themselves from Rick but the bond between you and STGRB was strong. Together, there were accomplishments. Kathleen and her ilk of authors fail to realize once they are known for having mental breakdowns of rage for a bad but honest review there is no reason to ever read them again. Kathleen's career will survive her behavior because she has power and influences, but indie authors destroy themselves having rage fits in public.

      Delete
    3. What you say is basically true. Except for this bond between STGRB and myself. If that was true, we would still be tight. I got played by STGRB and then sold out. Then bullied by them as they turned to spreading lies like the bullies they claim to be fighting. Rick is still my friend because he has more integrity than STGRB does.

STGRB is dependent upon relationships with people like Kathleen, and Miss Rice to give them their "credibility" when in fact real credibility is determined by the value of your word and actions. Like bullies, STGRB will use people for their gain. If you offer them something for the moment, they will love you. When you no longer offer them something that they need, you are expendable. Knowing this then it surprises me none that STGRB is getting cozy with Kathleen despite her actions. STGRB will defend her actions in exchange for her power and influence. But trust me, if when that power and influence is gone, so will the relationship between her and STGRB be severed.

I don't know about public rage fits destroying indie authors. For 99 percent of indie authors, nobody is really watching. Nobody really cares. The only people who seem to care are the bullies themselves. And nobody is concerned with the bullies. They are biggest nobodies of them all. They are - after all - the talentless ones.

Although they would probably thrive in a reality show scenario.

  17. That is a damn good reply Carroll!

  18. I think you attempted to do the impossible, to remain steadfast with STGRB and be a friend of Rick at the same time. You got caught in the middle of their fight just like you got caught in the middle of Rick's fight with the bullies before he befriended them. Your intentions were sound but there were not allowances for dual loyalty. The outcome was predictable. No one won but there were some losses and gains. You can focus on your writing and health, and you have a following based on your own accord.

    1. Anytime that anyone can turn their enemy into a friend .... it's a good day.

I didn't really get caught in the middle of Rick's fight. The same group of people he was dealing with were from the same group of people I was already dealing with. Helping him was also helping myself.

No one ever really wins in any kind of fight. A fight is the result of one or more uncompromising individuals unwilling or unable to compromise. That and good versus evil. The funny thing about that though is, everyone likes to think they are on the side of good when in fact, when good people fight, it can make them evil.

  19. Linda Hilton recently wrote an interesting blog about her removal from Goodreads. Some of it is rather insightful and other parts are...something else. She equates being a poor female and NOT being nice was part of her banning. I don't get that part of her reasoning. Her research about the Fivver reviews was impeccable but also somewhat obsessive. Apparently by reporting her research to Goodreads she actually believed they would change their business model when instead they banned her. Goodreads have allowed so many questionable behaviors to exist on their site until maybe Linda believed her actions were permissible. Perhaps she will be happier now that she is banned, and certainly authors will celebrate her removal. To some she is a bully,to others she is a hero, and to most she just wasted an obscene amount of time.

    1. I know plenty of people who are not nice, but they also are not mean. Not being nice is not saying good morning or shaking someone's hand or maybe opening a door for a lady. While annoying, those people really don't bother me.

Then there is being mean. This is someone who goes out of their way to hurt others for no apparent reason, be it a physical hurt, mental, emotional, etc. Instead of ignoring someone who wishes you a good morning, you turn to them and say, "Go to hell." - See the diff?

Not being nice is simply being a rude person. Being mean is bullying. Linda may have started out as a "not nice" person, but maybe she crossed over to just simply being mean. Maybe that's why she got the boot. (Just some food for thought)

      Delete
  20. Carroll, I must agree with you. People who lack power and then try to exercise it believe not being nice means power. These are people who are accustomed to abuse and simply cannot define power without equating it to their own maltreatment experiences. These same abused people also do not know the difference between being nice and being passive.

  21. Is there any anti bully sites that endorse stgrb? I read a recent article where they talk about being on vacation but it comes off more like they are trying to antagonize the trolls. Why do they do that?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. I don't know why they do anything. Someone sent me screenshots of the post you mention, and they admit to playing games with the bullies. Maybe STGRB thinks this is all just a game. I don't know. But it comes off a little too childish for my tastes. It's just STGRB trying to stir things up again. For the past year or so, that's been more their business.

STGRB did a three part series earlier this year where they reported on the bullies arguing among themselves. In that argument the bullies accused an author of criminal activity that was reported on some other site. STGRB mocked and laughed as well, reporting this author as a criminal too, and damaging his reputation further. The author went out and gathered up evidence to prove that it wasn't him and that it was someone else who simply shared his name. STGRB reported the evidence but never apologized publicly for their premature assumptions or for their unprofessional behavior.

Which leads me to answering your other question.

No. STGRB is not endorsed by any legitimate anti-bullying website, nor by any legitimate news website. At least, none that I am aware of. And it could be for reasons that I mentioned earlier. They are more bully-like aggressive these days.

I do not condone going into bully spaces and stirring up the pot. It's okay to troll their spaces in private, but to report on what they are doing and saying when it doesn't involve them attacking someone? No. I say, let sleeping bullies lay. And to just outright accuse people of things without evidence or proof? I don't condone that either.

I would suggest you go ask STGRB these questions but I can't even do that in good faith because if you do, they will ban you from their site and place on their "personal bully" list. Even if you think you're good friends with them, you are not allowed to question their "authority" or actions. And you're required to hate everyone they hate and like everyone they like. It's quite the "China" website over there. lol

The truth is, no one of any consequence is paying attention to them anymore ever since they turned into a hate site about a year or so ago.
